Ryan & Eva May Have Been Married For Months

I respect when a celebrity couple is so intensely private to the point that I barely even remember that they're together — that's talent! Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have been together for five years, but still, very little is known about their personal life together. On Wednesday, Us Weekly reported that Mendes and Gosling got married, but according to the publication, this isn't a recent development. If Us Weekly is to be believed, this wedding happened quite some time ago, which, if true, pretty much confirms that they are the best secret-keepers in Hollywood.

Update: On Wednesday afternoon, TMZ reported that their sources claim Mendes and Gosling are not married.

I am both shocked and not shocked at this news. On one hand, Mendes has spoken out about not exactly believing in marriage, so I didn't think she'd take the plunge. But I'm not shocked that if they got married, no one would notice — at least not right away.

According to Us Weekly, sources revealed that Mendes and Gosling got married earlier this year among a small group of their family and friends. A source said, “Eva and Ryan have always felt like a married couple... They are infatuated with each other.” Ugh, this is real life goals right here.

Now, this is still a report, but talk of a Mendes-Gosling wedding has been going around since earlier this summer. In July, Hollywood Life claimed that they married after Mendes proposed to Gosling, and they reportedly had a ceremony at their Hollywood Hills home. A source told the site, “The buzz is that they invited fewer than 30 people and told everyone they were coming to a backyard party... Of course, anyone there was sworn to secrecy!” You see, I'd totally believe this!

Earlier in her career, Mendes was especially open about her distaste for the institution of marriage. Once she opened up on Chelsea Lately and said, "I'm not like anti-marriage or the institution, like for other people. And I love the idea of a union — that's all very beautiful. But I think, you know, it's a very old fashioned, archaic kind of thing."

But, after the surprise news came out about of the birth of Mendes and Gosling's second daughter, Amada Lee, a source claimed to People that “with Ryan things are different" for Mendes when it comes to marriage. The source said, "She’s very independent, but she’s content with her partner. She finally found the person she really wants to be with.” A few months earlier, Gosling told Hello! Canada, “I know that I’m with the person I’m supposed to be with." When asked for the quality he looks for in a woman, he said, "That she’s Eva Mendes. There’s nothing else I’m looking for.”

Well, it sounds to me like these two are pretty lucky to have each other, so whether or not they are actually married (we might never know), they have plenty of love for each other and their babies to last a lifetime.
