Justin Bieber's Manager Making What Movie?!

by Kaitlin Reilly

Rarely a day goes by where we don't hear about some ridiculous stunt that Justin Bieber has pulled on the world. So imagine my surprise when the news in the entertainment sphere is only Biebs-adjacent. Who is stealing the spotlight from the Biebs? That would be his manager, Scooter Braun. According to reports, Scooter Braun wants to make a live-action version of Jem and the Holograms. And the story only gets weirder from here.

According to reports, Braun is working with Paranormal Activity producer Jason Blum and G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu for a live-action remake of Jem and the Holograms. You know, the '80s cartoon about the singer/music producer who lives a double life through use of her sci-fi holograms? Anyway, apparently Braun isn't busy enough cleaning up Bieber's messes, because now he's on board to do this movie in a big way. Braun and his team made a YouTube video to promote the film, so it's definitely not a joke, even though the whole idea does sound more like a suggestion you'd throw out to an improv comedy troupe than an actual movie.

According to MTV, Braun and his fellow producers will be casting the whole movie through Tumblr, which makes absolutely no sense but just go with it, okay guys? Unlike celebrities like, say, Zach Braff, who really just want their fans money to make the movie that he wants to, these producers don't want money — they want your input.

Fans can use the hashtag #JemTheMovie to suggest their ideas for casting, though there's absolutely no reason why the stars they suggest won't just say "No way am I going to be in Justin Bieber's manager's live-action Jem movie." Personally, I'm all for experimenting in the entertainment industry, and it's cool that these guys really do seem to want their fans input, but I can't help but shake that this movie will be the absolute weirdest.

Here's the video below. What do you think of their spectacularly odd idea?
