Continuing his post-debate attacks against a former Miss Universe winner, Donald Trump slammed Alicia Machado early Friday morning in a series of bizarre and crass tweets. In his Twitter tirade, Trump claimed Machado had a sex tape past and alleged Hillary Clinton helped her become a U.S. citizen: “Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?”
As Politico noted, "The Daily Beast and other outlets that investigated the claim found no evidence that she has starred in any pornographic films." However, that didn't stop Trump from his bizarre Twitter blast that began with alleging Machado had somehow fooled the Clinton campaign into letting her become a surrogate. "Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an 'angel' without checking her past, which is terrible!" Trump tweeted at 5:14 a.m. ET. Five minutes later, the Republican presidential nominee tweeted, "Using Alicia M in the debate as a paragon of virtue just shows that Crooked Hillary suffers from BAD JUDGEMENT! Hillary was set up by a con."
Machado has been in the news since Clinton mentioned her by name during the first presidential debate. She alleged that Trump had referred to Machado as "Miss Piggy" when she gained weight and "Miss Housekeeper" because of her Hispanic heritage. Clinton added, "Her name is Alicia Machado and she has become a U.S. citizen, and you can bet she's going to vote this November.”
Ever since Clinton brought up Machado, Trump has appeared unable to stop bringing her up and bashing her. Doing so has only provided more fuel for his critics, like the USA Today editorial board, who argue Trump is "unfit for the presidency."
