The second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton was, in many ways, even worse than the first. There was a lot of discussion and deflection about Trump's misogyny, an embarrassing bout of Islamophobia, and an all-time high level of frustration between the moderators and candidates. There was, however, a silver lining in the form of Ken Bone, an angelic audience member with an unusual name who asked a simple question about environmental policy and in doing so, made his way into all of our hearts. These memes and tweets prove that Ken Bone broke the internet in the best way, and saved the debate from the bickering of the candidates themselves.

Although it was Bone's name that initially caught the attention of Twitter memesters, it was his cheerful and somewhat nervous demeanor, his effortless charm, and his amazing red cardigan that solidified the love affair. Within an hour, Bone had become the veritable winner of the second presidential debate. Whether he'll be able to capitalize on this surprising viral fame that could only occur in the 2016 election cycle remains to be seen, but we must all live in the moment and bask in the glory of this strange one-sided romance, and remember that it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.
