Free Frank Irving is the New War Cry for Season 2

by Kadeen Griffiths

If Sleepy Hollow were a person, it would be that guy at work who quits his job out of the blue and gives the middle finger to everyone on his way out. Or maybe I'm just bitter about the unknown length of the break between the Season 1 finale that shattered our hearts and the upcoming Season 2. The stars of the hit NBC show, like Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie, may be trying to make the wait a bit bearable by appearing at PaleyFest, or they could just be trying to incite a fan riot by teasing these new spoilers. Then again, considering the panel included beloved fan troll Orlando Jones, they could be doing both.

So what did we learn from the Sleepy Hollow PaleyFest panel? Here are six answers to burning questions about Season 2!

Who Loves Abbie Mills the Most (Besides Jenny Mills)?

It seems that the passionate fan reaction to the idea of Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills as a couple — better known by the portmanteau "Ichabbie" — took the creators entirely by surprise. Which is a surprise in and of itself, because Beharie and Mison are both incredibly attractive and incredibly good at generating a chemistry that sizzles off the screen. However, since Ichabod's relationship with Katrina took center stage throughout Season 1 and culminated in their joyful reunion, Season 2 will feature Abbie getting a love interest of her own. Hopefully, one a little less creepy than Andy and a little less controlling than Leo. Beharie is on board with the idea even if the fans might not be.

I asked them if I could be a part of the casting process! I want to know who he is and make sure he is tall and chiseled and strong enough for me.

Jenny Mills is Alive Right? ...Right?

The fact that this is even a question is further proof of just how cruel the Sleepy Hollow writers can be. Lyndie Greenwood slayed her way into our hearts as the badass baby Mills sister Jenny and she ended the season unmoving after a life-threatening car accident. Their lips were sealed on the ultimate fate of Jenny and the already-dead Andy Brooks, but those taking comfort from the news that Greenwood was promoted to series regular for Season 2 should still beware.

One of the great things about Sleepy Hollow is that you can be dead but it doesn’t mean that you’re gone.

Is Ichabod Crane Ever Going to Change His Clothes?

As well as Ichabod was rocking those skinny jeans, it appears as though any hope that he might step into the future of fashion should just be put to rest. Even if he wanted to take a tour through the Gap with Abbie and Jenny throwing foreign fabrics and styles at him, it seems his colonial suit is both a security blanket and an iconic part of who he is.

From early on the studio was asking, are you going to change his clothes? And I said absolutely not — it’s part of his character. He’s actually quite an arrogant, stubborn guy.

Will Frank Irving Be Returning to Sleepy Hollow?

Although early speculation branded Captain Frank Irving a potential traitor based on one suspicious scene, he has since proven himself a valuable ally to Ichabod, Abbie, and Jenny, willing to protect his family but not at the cost of the rest of the world. Naturally, his belief in the supernatural has had real life consequences that sent him upstate and there's going to be a new chief in town who's a lot less sympathetic to the cause.

With Irving incarcerated, we have to figure out who's going to be in charge of the law and order in Sleepy Hollow.

Who's the Main Villain of the Season?

There are lot of villains to choose from. Between any of the four Horsemen to the rival coven trying to bring about the Apocalypse to Moloch himself, Abbie and Ichabod have had a lot on their plate this season trying to save the world. Moloch for Abbie and Death for Ichabod were the two main match-ups of season 1, but season 2 it looks like War is going to be the main concern.

War doesn't work by itself. There are a lot of amazing foot soldiers coming, familiar and also original.

The most important question still remains unanswered. When is Sleepy Hollow going to come back to air? We're three months into 2014 already and there still hasn't been a date announced, which leaves way too much time for our imaginations to run wild. Maybe I was wrong before. If Sleepy Hollow was a person, it would be more like a well-dressed mafia don smirking at all of our pain and dangling everything we want just out of our reach.
