This 'Scandal' Star Got Into Some Trouble

by Alanna Bennett

Say it ain't so, Harrison! A warrant for the arrest of Scandal 's Columbus Short has been issued. Perhaps as the universe's way of bumming us out through proving that, no, not everyone has Olivia Pope as their legal and/or personal counsel because no, Olivia Pope is not real. Which is just generally a bummer but considering the version of Washington she lives in maybe we should all be grateful.

More likely, though, it's not so much a cosmic message as the result of some alleged aggravated battery.

The incident took place earlier this month at an engagement party Short was attending at Gabe's Bar and Grill in LA. According to TMZ the guy said something distasteful about his wife and Short punched him in the face as if this were an episode of Scandal, and not real life, wherein bar fights are more ill-advised. The punched allegedly knocked the guy out and broke his nose, sending him to the hospital.

Short plays Pope & Associates associate Harrison Wright on Scandal. In real life his bond is set at $50,000 and the aggravated battery charge carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison. Oof. I know this is a wildly idealistic sentence, but...maybe people should just stop punching people? Y'know, because jail.
