13 of the Best Looks From the Melbourne Fashion Festival

The particularly fashion-obsessed among us know that Australian fashion designers are some of the most edgy, creative forces in the industry. They love an optical pattern, have an unabashed devotion to modern, structured silhouettes, and have a predominantly carefree approach to design. You can imagine the fist-pump when we discovered Virgin Australia-sponsored Melbourne Fashion Festival, a more laid-back approach to fashion week in which designers showcased their favorite designs in collaboration with magazines including ELLE Australia and Cosmopolitan.

The resulting runway presentations didn't disappoint. Flared, feminine skirts shared the catwalk with mod minidresses, and the requisite hypnotic patterns made an appearance on maxi dresses, slim pants, and silky tees. After seeing the latest presentations at Melbourne, we're ready to embrace a more quirky, relaxed style for next season.
