Why Is Sarah Jessica Parker So Mad At This Woman?

by Alanna Bennett

When it comes to celebrity-related feuds in general, I tend to roll my eyes half the time. They're often trumped up out of some desire for drama, or just another example of people being awkward and/or rude and/or misguided on social media. And who knows, this most recent twitter "fight" may end up falling into the above categories. But Sarah Jessica Parker's twitter takedown of a woman who offended her is infused with an air of mystery, intrigue, and eloquence not often seen anywhere near a twitter feed.

"Your anonymity doesn't diminish your outrageous and vulgar tweet. And your deletion only reveals your cowardice," Parker said in the first of a series of four tweets today to Sarah J. Symonds, who refers to herself in her twitter bio as an "Author, Infidelity Analyst, Founder of Mistresses Anonymous & Wife School."

"I'm certain there isn't a woman on this planet who would support your specific kind of cruelty," she continued. "No apology, no explanation."

Symonds' offending tweet was deleted before most people caught win of Parker's response to it, and since Symonds is not nearly as well-known as Parker any screencaptured remnants of it have yet to surface. But the interaction did bring out the female avenger in Parker, who wrote to Symonds:

And people did rush to her side, even without context. They (like yours truly) were likely swept up in the eloquence of her rebuttal — and Parker's reputation as a relatively calm celebrity — even without seeing what she was rebutting.

Symonds has yet to respond publicly to the hullabaloo, so it could turn out that all of this was some vast overreaction that resulted in a response that just happened to hit on some issues of hate that people identified and/or sympathized with. All we've really got now is Parker's first tweet at Symonds; the replies to it seem to point towards Symonds having posted a reaction to a picture of Parker and her children.

Who knows how or if this will develop, but if you needed some kind of twitter mystery to get you through the rest of the week, this might be it. Parker quickly moved on to other twitter duties (complimenting Alicia Keys' sneakers, etc.), but we certainly remain captivated.
