'Better Call Saul' Gets New Characters, Here's Who Should Play Them

Breaking Bad's spin-off already has its stars in Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks, but now Better Call Saul has released descriptions of the secondary characters. The show is a prequel centering on Odenkirk's character Saul and lawyer-life, and so the new characters are primarily in the law/criminal category. Fans are also still holding out hope that Aaron Paul is in to play younger Jesse before Walter White ruined his life. But while we wait for official news on that, we can look forward to knowing these six new characters will appear. No names are attached to these roles yet, so I'm going to attach my own. Here's who I think should star alongside Saul.

Rob Lowe as Burt

Burt is described as a “Kennedy-type lawyer in a white shoe law firm.” Who better to play that role than Lowe, who’s actually played a Kennedy. Plus having just left Parks and Rec frees him up for this show.

Blair Underwood as Dr. Thurber

Described as a “brilliant attorney in his 50s” Underwood could capture both parts pretty well. He’s also played a lawyer back in the 1986 show L.A. Law, so he already knows the jargon.

Olivia Munn as Beth

She’s a lawyer whose life has ”complicated by her romantic entanglements with somebody else at the firm” (Can you blame her if she works alongside Lowe and Underwood? No.) We feel confident she could bring the serious attorney/flirting with my co-worker sides of her character together seamlessly.

Jesse Eisenberg as Eddy

Eddy’s a “smart and calculating criminal who knows the ropes.” I could see Eisenberg flourishing in the cocky/clever criminal role, especially with his calm way of talking even about the most urgent of things.

Dylan and Cole Sprouse as Luke and Zach

These troublesome twin characters “spend their days skateboarding and scamming.” With the Sprouses’ flowing locks and penchant for deception (see Cole Sprouse’s Tumblr experiment) they would rock this role. It’s about time they come back to film, and this might be just the director they’d appreciate working for. (It’s certainly about as far from Disney as you can get.)
