GOP Rep. Caught Making Out With Staffer

by Seth Millstein

On Monday, a video was released showing married Congressman Vance McAllister kissing one of his staffers. The video shows McAllister, a Louisiana Republican who’s been married for 16 years and campaigned as a conservative Christian, making out with his district scheduler at his congressional office two days before Christmas last year. McAllister immediately issued an apology once the video was posted, saying that he’d “fallen short.”

"I'm asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve,” McAllister said in a statement. “Trust is something I know has to be earned whether your a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I've disappointed."

The footage of McAllister’s liason was obtained and posted by the Ouachita Citizen. McAllister, a former businessman, became the Congressman for Louisiana’s 5th congressional district after a special election last year, wherein he touted his pro-family credentials. He was endorsed by Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson; after winning election, McAllister brought Phil’s son Willie as his guest to the 2014 State of the Union.

Two months after taking office, McAllister said that his new job “sucks,” and “ain’t no fun.” If and when calls for him to resign begin mounting, it's possible he won't have to deal with his job for much longer.
