If You Don't Know Who This Woman Is, You Should

by Christine DiStasio

You probably remember Christina Garibaldi from the red carpet at those controversial 2013 Video Music Awards on MTV. Or as the on-air reporter for MTV News and the author of a handful of pop culture-related posts on the network's website. Either way, you've seen Garibaldi before and you'll be seeing her again — this Sunday as Christina Garibaldi co-hosts the 2014 MTV Movie Awards pre-show with popstar Zendaya, Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey, and MTV's Josh Horowitz. So who is the popular MTV reporter?

Garibaldi will be stationed at the head of the Movie Awards red carpet on Sunday night to interview all of your favorite stars as they arrive at the event. And we mean all of your favorite stars — the current on-air MTV News reporter's Twitter is full of photos of her alongside everyone from One Direction to Britney Spears. But there's a lot more to know about the successful producer and correspondent than just the celebrities she chats with on the red carpet. From her adorable marriage to her college sweetheart to her impressive experience moving up the production ladder at MTV, Garibaldi is a talent to watch.

So before you tune into the 2014 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, get to know this pre-show host.

She Knows Her Stuff

Garibaldi is a 2006 graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. The MTV reporter studied and prepared for her big job with MTV at the School of Communication and was a member of Marist College Television.

She Married Her College Sweetheart

In her student profile on Marist's website, Garibaldi was asked if she keeps in touch with anyone from her alma mater. The MTV reporter told the college that she keeps in touch with several roommates from her time at Marist and that she actually married a fellow 2006 alum: Michael LaMastro.

She's Worked With Britney, Bitch

Garibaldi is credited as a field producer on the 2011 documentary Britney Spears: I Am Femme Fatale. She later interviewed the pop star in Dec. 2013. So they're basically BFFs, right?

She Started From The Bottom

Garibaldi knows what it means to start from the ground up. The reporter started at MTV as an intern in 2006, during her senior year at Marist. Immediately upon her graduation from the college, MTV hired her as an assistant. Garibaldi's worked her way from intern to a coordinator to a segment producer until finally landing on the red carpet at the 2011 MTV VMAs.

She's A Selena Gomez Fan

Also in her Marist student profile, Garibaldi revealed who her favorite celebrity interview has been. The reporter told the college that she was most excited to interview Robin Thicke and then-wife Paula Patton for the first time. But there's another young star who she holds in high regard — Garibaldi said of Selena Gomez, "I always look forward to interviewing Selena Gomez. I’ve been interviewing her for about five years and in that time she has achieved so much success all while remaining humble and appreciative." I wonder how she feels about Gomez (supposedly) getting back together with the Biebz?
