New 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' Trailer Introduces Electro during MTV Movie Awards

It looks like Spidey won't be the only attraction for the new Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie. The newest trailer, which aired Sunday night at the MTV Movie awards, shows Electro sending bolts at Spider-Man, and finally showing us that their relationship may extend beyond the typical villain-hero animosity. Before this trailer, fans knew that Peter Parker would be up against the Green Goblin, but they were unaware that Electro would have such a large role. Also, this trailer reasserts the series' reputation as "the Spider-Man movies with a plot," as shown by the combination of Matrix-like freeze-frames with Spidey's attempts to save innocent bystanders. Since the film opens May 2, this extra peek into the sequel to the popular reboot of the Spiderman series couldn't have come at a better time, and it succeeded in piquing my curiosity about Peter Parker's new foes.

But as much as this trailer makes me want to jump out of our red-and-blue boots, the fake article posted on the movie's Tumblr may be even more exciting. The Tumblr recently posted a fake Daily Bugle article, which teased the possibility of the villains Carnage and Venom in future Amazing Spider-Man films. Although the last iteration of Spider-Man tackled the Green Goblin and Venom, there is plenty of territory left to be explored with both of these arch nemeses.

Most importantly, though, Emma Stone looked and sounded fly as hell in this trailer, and I, for one, can't wait to see her play an independent, no-nonsense Gwen Stacy again.
