MoMA's Rain Room Inspired Us to Ask: What's The Longest You've Waited In Line?
Usually, waiting on line is anathema to residents of the city that never sleeps. But New Yorkers are apparently willing to wait up to eight hours outside the Museum of Modern Art to experience “Rain Room”, the temporary exhibit in which artificial rain pours down everywhere except on the visitors. But what else are New Yorkers willing to wait for? (Will we even admit to waiting for anything?) We took to the streets to ask: What’s the longest you’ve ever waited in line?
Skrillex
“Two hours and a half hours at Webster Hall, for Skrillex. I never care about waiting — it’s worth the wait to see an artist. Once you get in there, it’s a party. The wait doesn’t bother me.” — Arlene
I Don't Wait
"I am not the kind of person to wait. I will not go to that exhibit. I hate waiting in lines." —Valentina
An exhibit...but not Rain Room
“I waited in a really long line at the Armory for 'The Event of a Thread.' I waited in the middle of winter for two hours to see something for 15 minutes! It was super duper worth it, but I’m not waiting for the Rain Room because I can get not rained on outside for free.” —Lio
A bus
“I’ve waited maybe an hour in a line for the bus to New Jersey. I don’t really wait on lines if I don’t have to.” —Chrstine
A restaurant and an exhibit
“Three hours, at Gladys Knight’s Signature Chicken & Waffles in Atlanta. It was ridiculous— we didn’t eat til like one in the morning! It wasn’t worth it.” —Sihaya
“I went to the World Expo and waited in a two-and-a-half-hour line for an exhibit — I think it was Germany. I don’t think it’s ever worth it.”— Heidi
Disneyland
“45 minutes for a ride in Disneyland. It was worth it.”—Jane
Six Flags
"I don't have much patience. At Six Flags I waited 45 minutes for a ride." —Ashley
The post office
“A couple of hours, at the post office.” —Audrey
Deep Purple
"A Deep Purple concert, when I was a kid. I waited seven or eight hours." —Kim
A Checkout Line
"I'm gonna say a supermarket checkout line— at least 20 minutes." —Gabriella
