Kandi Is the Real Housewife You Want to Watch

by Lia Beck

In the battle of the Real Housewives of Atlanta spin-offs, there is a clear victor. The premiere of Kandi Burruss' wedding spin-off did very well in the ratings drawing in 2.4 million viewers overall and 1.2 million in the adults 18-49 demographic which is important for advertisers. Kandi's Wedding, bested the premiere episode ratings of fellow housewife Nene Leakes' wedding spin-off, I Dream of Nene, and that of former housewife Kim Zolciak's wedding special, Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding. Leakes' debut episode pulled in 1.6 million viewers in 2013 while Zolciak's was seen by 1.39 million in 2012.

Burruss' premiere did not only do well in comparison to other Atlanta housewife wedding specials (it's practically a genre of television at this point!), it did well overall. Kandi's Wedding ranked in fourth place for Sunday, June 1 behind Game of Thrones, the NHL Western Conference Finals, and Family Guy.

Even though fans of Kandi already know that she's gotten married and have seen her wedding photos, the drama that built up between Kandi, her mother Joyce, and her fiancé Todd on the most recent season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has clearly been enough to get people tuning in. And Burruss is happy to give her fans what they want. After hearing the news of her ratings, Burruss posted a message on Instagram thanking everyone who watched and encouraging everyone to tune in next week.

Now Burruss just has to see if she can keep those ratings up for the rest of the season. If you're interested in helping, Kandi's Wedding airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
