Tan, long blonde hair, dark eye make-up: I could be describing any number of actresses, but Tilda Swinton? She's usually ghostly white, severe, and otherworldly, with a shock of short-cropped pale hair. She's got one of the most distinct looks of any movie star working today, which makes Swinton's transformation for her new film Trainwreck all the more unbelievable.
The fearless Swinton is no stranger to switching up her look for the sake of a film. After all, she donned some pretty stunning old-age makeup in The Grand Budapest Hotel , and she looks downright terrifying as a white-dreadlocked vampire in Only Lovers Left Alive . But this look— that of an unassuming, everyday woman— is probably her greatest transformative feat to date.
The fact that it gave Swinton a makeover that literally made our jaws drop is just one of the many reasons we're already beyond excited for Trainwreck. The upcoming film, written by and starring Amy Schumer, features an absolutely outstanding cast. Besides the always wonderful Swinton, there's Bill Hader, Vanessa Bayer, Brie Larson, Academy Award nominee Barkhad Abdi, and this little known athlete named LeBron James. Seriously, what is this movie? And can we please see it right now?
