His 32-second Goal Was Faster Than These 6 Things

by Rachel Semigran

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! ARE YOU WATCHING THIS, AMERICA!? Clint Dempsey, the U.S. team's captain and striker at the World Cup just scored the first goal in our match against Ghana...in less than 30 seconds. Considering the previous aired matched between Iran and Nigeria ended 0-0, it's absolutely gob-smacking to see such a huge goal happen so quickly. And in a game with so much riding on it, with so many strategic players on the field, a goal like that is not easy to come by. No doubt, it put Ghana on edge and rattled its defense, but it's still too early in the game to let this first fast goal predict the outcome.

Nevertheless, that doesn't mean we can't do what Americans do best and shout our victories loud and proud. Wherever you are, just know there is a "U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!" chant happening within close proximity. There are estimates of nearly 20,000 U.S. fans in Brazil for the World Cup, so you just know they're all losing their minds, while they sweat through Brazil's immense heat. But with that goal from Dempsey, I doubt any of them even notice the puddles of sweat in the bar or stadium they find themselves in.

Dempsey's goal was so fast and so impressive that we've compiled a list of incredibly short and fast things that are still longer than the time it took for Dempsey to score a goal for the U.S. Enjoy! GO AMERICA!

First, here's the amazing play:
