Lena & Jack are the New Jessica & JT

by Kaitlin Reilly

There are some celebrity couples we know way too much about: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie... the press can't get enough of documenting the lives of these couples. Then there are the celebrity couples we want to learn more about — the ones that don't have lots of PDA pictures in the tabloids or give tons of interviews on the subject. Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff are one of these couples, and, luckily, Antonoff just fed our curiosity about his relationship with his recent interview with New York Magazine.

Antonoff is the lead guitarist of the band fun. as well as the creator of new indie pop band Bleachers, and Dunham, the creator of HBO's hit series Girls, are a match made in creative heaven, and their love story is as modern as the projects both work on in their professional life. According to Antonoff's interview with New York Magazine, the two were set up by their mutual friend Mike Birbiglia, and what followed was a "blind date by modern standards" — as in, Antonoff semi-stalked Dunham via the internet prior to their first date. (If you say you've never done that, you're totally lying.)

The couple has been dating for over two years now, and yet Antonoff is just now coming out about the details of his relationship with Dunham. Hey, that's cool — Antonoff does have albums and tours to promote, and his relationship isn't the most fascinating thing about him. At the same time, I'd be lying if I said I didn't care at all about this couple. They're kind of fascinating together — both have new, exciting projects coming up (Dunham is currently working on Season 4 of Girls) and still make time to get goofy and adorable on Instagram. Just check out this cute shot of Antonoff Skyping with Dunham and their dog, Lamby.

This couple is sort of like the brand new Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel — we know that these two are together, but that they have separate lives and projects. In fact, Antonoff and Dunham have a few things in common with Timberlake and Biel, starting with the fact that both met in the least Hollywood way ever (through friends, not publicists). Like Antonoff, Timberlake is the musician of the couple, while Biel, like Dunham, sticks to acting. (And, in Dunham's case, writing, producing, and directing as well.)

The main thing that ties these two couples together? The overall fascination that the public has with them... and the fact that neither couple is particularly interested in playing into the fame game when it comes to their relationship. Which, really, is just too bad for us.
