The Best Red, White, & Blue 'Dos

by Jenny Jaffe

Is there any way to wear the American flag without it coming off a little, well... tacky? No matter what anyone says, I don't think there's a particularly subtle or fashion-forward way to show off your national pride. Not that there necessarily should be, of course. July 4th is about the red, white, and blue (our red, white, and blue, I mean, not the U.K.'s, France's, Australia's, New Zealand's, the Czech Republic's, The Netherland's, Puerto Rico's, Luxembourg's... Oh man, we really don't have the claim to the red, white, and blue, do we?) and you should wear it proudly, loudly, and joyfully.

Or, you know, at least one of the colors.

If you're anything like me, your closet is black, white, and sometimes neon, so wearing your patriotism on your sleeve (literally) could be a toughie. Why not, then, make an even bolder statement and wear it on your head?

As a ginger, I've spent every 4th of July since I was too old to have a flag face-painted on me at the town fair telling people that my red hair is my way of dressing up. But white hair and blue hair are both pretty freaking cool, too, and they make great fashion statements not only for Independence Day, but all year round.

Don't believe me? Here are 12 celebrities who prove that the American flag contains the three coolest hair colors.

Rihanna

Tilda Swinton

Katy Perry

Florence Welch

Gwen Stefani

Kate Winslet

Christina Hendricks

Lady Gaga

Demi Lovato

Hayley Williams

Meryl Streep

Lil Kim

Rock whatever color suits your mood and makes you smile. Happy Fourth!
