Joss Whedon Still Knows His 'Buffy'

by Alanna Bennett

No one told me that if I was just like "Hey, Joss Whedon, make me more Buffy the Vampire Slayer please" that he might actually comply. But such is the magic and glory of social media: Sometimes your pleas into the the ether are actually heard. Sometimes they're even responded to! And sometimes they result in Joss Whedon drawing a little Buffy illustration that could in many ways serve as a TL;DR of the show.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, spanning a movie, seven television seasons, a five-season spinoff, and even more seasons in comic form, cannot be reduced to a napkin scribble. But that doesn't stop napkin scribbles about it from being damn great.

This particular napkin scribble came to be after twitter user @ThoughtOtter "summoned" Whedon, and Whedon offered to do the user's bidding. @ThoughtOtter, obviously being of sound mind, requested more Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The resulting illustration includes many things still loved about Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Punning while slaying, vampires being in love with Buffy, good fashion, and lots of overriding metaphors. It's all kinds of beautiful.

I mean, it's pretty accurate:
