do We Have Our First 'GoT' Sand Snake?

by Alanna Bennett

[Game of Thrones Season 4 spoiler alert] Oberyn Martell may be gone, but our journey with the rest of Game Of Thrones' Martell family has just begun. Because beyond the Red Viper lie the Sand Snakes — and one of those Sand Snakes in Game of Thrones Season 5 might be Keisha Castle-Hughes.

This casting is far from official, so take it with a giant grain of salt — but if it turns out to be true, it seems like it could be pretty great. Castle-Hughes is a former Oscar nominee, after all, for her role in 2002's Whale Rider. And the Sand Snakes — Oberyn's infamous Dornish bastard daughters — are characters many fans of the books can't wait to see brought to life on the show. It was also confirmed that the Sand Snakes would be appearing next season, which will take us to Dorne for the first time.

We've still got a woefully long time to go before Game of Thrones's fifth season actually graces us with its presence, but this is certainly a promising first rumor. And after the impact Pedro Pascal's Oberyn made on last season, it seems like the presence of a bunch of his offspring — and the exploration of the land he so often bragged about — will lend for a good story.
