Ed Sheeran isn't a Fan of New Facebook App & 7 Other Failed Celebrity Endorsements
Ed Sheeran may soon have material for another breakup hit, but this time the song won't be about a girl. Billboard reports Sheeran is seriously underwhelmed by Facebook's Mentions app, which is supposed to improve social media navigation for celebrities. But as The Guardian reports, that's simply not the case for the singer-songwriter, who is the only Brit to be invited to use Mentions.
I'm not saying this endorsement is going down the drain, but if other celebs ask Sheeran about trying out the app, he'd probably say, "Don't."
Meanwhile, hopefully Sheeran doesn't find himself on the list of these 7 failed celebrity endorsements.
Charlize Theron & Raymond Weil Luxury Watches
Judging by how closely monitored Theron’s choice of jewelry is these days, it’s no wonder Raymond Weil Luxury Watches sued the actress for $20 million in 2007 for wearing a Dior timepiece instead. If only she could turn back time and select another accessory altogether…
William Shatner & Priceline
For 14 years, Shatner worked as a spokesperson for Priceline to promote the company’s lower airfare prices, but the cheapest shot of all came when the company gave Shatner the shaft by killing off his character in a commercial. Eventually, they revived Shatner’s character and hired him back seven months later.
Zooey Deschanel & Steve Madden
Steve Madden produces a ton of shoes that pair well with a girl’s outfits, but their partnership with Deschanel couldn’t have been more of a mismatch. After claiming the company never paid her, the New Girl star filed a $2 million lawsuit, which she eventually dropped.
Alec Baldwin & Wegmans Food Market
After Baldwin unleashed his fury upon a flight attendant, he lost his endorsement deal with Wegmans Food Market. Reportedly, the actor’s fans took a page out of Baldwin’s book of epic meltdowns and badgered the grocery chain until they agreed to hire him back.
The Kardashians & Debit Card
The Kardashians’ foray into the debit card business didn’t last a full month once the card’s consumers realized they wouldn’t be able to keep up with its astronomical fees.
Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Gates & Windows Vista
Hopefully Seinfeld’s gig as a Rag & Bone model works out better than his endorsement deal with Windows Vista. Apparently, not even Bill Gates’ involvement could salvage the project and the three commercials were shelved only a couple of weeks after they first appeared.
