The 'Atlanta Exes' Cast Are Making Names for Themselves & Leaving the Past Behind

As we have seen on the VH1 reality show Hollywood Exes, being the former wife of a famous hotshot isn't always easy. Whether it's fighting with your ex, trying to make a name for yourself, or dealing with the other women who have been cast on the show, living the single life usually brings the drama. But all of that is not reserved for the West Coast. Atlanta Exes will take us into the lives of five former partners of noteworthy individuals living in the Southern city starting Aug. 18 on VH1.

Since many entertainment and sports stars also call Atlanta home, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the city has enough exes of celebrities to get its own reality series. Here's what you need to know about the ladies of this spinoff and their former flames.

Tameka Raymond

Tameka brings the most baggage with her to Atlanta Exes. Not only did she divorce Usher, but she also lost her son Kile in a boating accident two years ago. Tameka has since set up Kile’s World in her son’s honor, which organizes a camp where young people can explore their artistic talents.

Tameka is also a stylist who has recently launched the lifestyle website Style Whim. Think goop but less pretentious. Though her supposed nasty divorce with Usher received a lot of media attention, it looks like she’s hoping Atlanta Exes will be her ticket to a fresh start.

Torrei Hart

Torrei is one of the few cast members trying to pave her own way in the same profession as her ex, as she attempts to build her comedy career like her ex-hubbie Kevin Hart.

Torrei’s divorce drama with Hart has played out publicly. She told ET in an interview earlier this year that Hart’s cheating was one of the reasons the couple got divorced, alleging that he had been having an affair with his current girlfriend, Eniko Parrish, while they were still married. Hart denied Torrei’s allegations through several tweets in May 2014.

When Torrei isn’t trying to make ‘em laugh, she basically does everything in show business, from acting to producing to writing. She has also partnered with Skimpy Mixers to create her own Cherry Limeade flavor and has set up a foundation with her sister called Soar, which aims to empower women. You know, the usual side projects for a reality TV star.

Monyetta Shaw

Monyetta says that her life isn’t too different now that she’s broken off her engagement with Ne-Yo. That’s probably because they still live in the same house with their two children when Ne-Yo is in Atlanta.

When Monyetta isn’t trying to figure out this complicated situation, she heads the Evan Grace Group as the founder and CEO of the company, which develops and manages global brands. A few years ago, she also had some bit parts in movies such as the Jessica Simpson-helmed Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous, Soul Men, and Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins.

Christina Johnson

Christina’s ex is “the sexy CeeLo Green,” as she still refers to him. So you can probably tell that although the two divorced eight years ago, they’re still a pretty close couple. CeeLo still styles Christina and spoils her with gifts, which tend to make her dates very competitive with him and sadly, not pay as much attention to her. Because they are still so close, I have a feeling that we might get some CeeLo in our lives on Atlanta Exes.

However, Christina and CeeLo have had a rocky past. Radar Online reports that CeeLo was allegedly arrested for “simple assault (family violence)” and “disorderly conduct” for threatening Christina and smashing the windows of their Jaguar in 2001. They also report that Christina filed for divorce in 2004, citing “mental and physical cruelty.” From the looks of it, the pair has put all of that behind them.

Sheree Buchanan

Sheree is the ex-wife of former NFL player Ray Buchanan, who she married while still in college. Ray was shortly drafted after that, so she’s known a luxurious lifestyle for much of her adult life. Now that Sheree is on her own, she has to bring home the bacon herself, which she does through her dessert catering company Cupiche Desserts and according to her Instagram, a line of blinged-out hookahs called Shabukah. She is also no stranger to the reality TV game, having competed on Season 4 of The Amazing Race with her fellow NFL wife and mom Monica Ambrose.
