What The 'SNL' Ladies Are Saying About Don Pardo

by Mallory Schlossberg

On Tuesday, it was revealed that the famous voice behind the announcements on Saturday Night Live , Don Pardo, had passed away at age 96. Of course, all of the cast members of Saturday Night Live remember that voice — anyone who watched NBC's sketch comedy show remembers that voice and will remember that voice. Imagine how awesome it must have been to hear Pardo call your name, thereby cementing the fact that you made it in comedy? That you were going to be performing live from NBC's famed Studio 8H? It must have felt pretty amazing, and further, it's understandable that the ladies who are a part of the cast — or who have been a part of the cast — have incredibly fond memories of Pardo.

It's evident that women who appeared on SNL felt honored to hear their name bellowed by his voice. Live, from New York, it's . . . female cast members, past and present, as they remember Pardo. Let's start with Amy Poehler. In a statement to The Wrap, she says:

My whole life changed once Don Pardo said my name [...] I will really miss that kind and talented man.
