They're Married!

by Kadeen Griffiths

We never thought this day would come, although I'm sure we certainly hoped for it. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got married over the weekend, reports the Associated Press, and this news is confirmed by a spokesman for the couple. Jolie and Pitt have been together since 2005 and have six children together, so to say this wedding is the most exciting thing that you'll hear about all day is a severe understatement.

Although Pitt said in 2006 that the two had no plans to marry until everyone in the country legally could, AP states that they were wed in a private ceremony on Saturday, in a small chapel in Chateau Miraval, France. They obtained a marriage license in California and the same judge who gave it to them is the one who officiated their ceremony in France. AP goes on to say that there was even a special role in the ceremony for each of their children: Maddox and Pax walked the aisle with Jolie, Zahara and Vivienne threw rose petals, Shiloh and Knox served as the ring bearers in the ceremony that was attended by family and friends.

This news comes in the midst of an amazing year for Pitt and Jolie. In 2014, Jolie gained her highest-banking film ever in the form of Maleficent and she and Pitt are set to star together in their first film since Mr. and Mrs. Smith, a film called By the Sea that will also be written and directed by Jolie herself. Since gay marriage is legal in many states at this point, with that list of states ever growing, the time is certainly perfect for Pitt to finally have put a ring on it. The pair dated for seven years before getting engaged in 2012.

There's no word yet on why Jolie and Pitt decided to get married this particular weekend, but we are finally living in a world where the Jolie-Pitt family is 100 percent official. It changes nothing between them at all, but it's still really amazing.
