Get Ready to Give Up Real Pants for Good

Do you love the high-fashion sweatpants trend as? Well, prepare to be elated, real pants haters — Racked is reporting that Alexandre Plokohov and Uniqlo are collaborating on a sweatpants collection for fall/winter 2014. We don't have much information at this point, so don't go tossing all your skinny jeans onto a bonfire just yet. However, you have my permission to rejoice at the prospect that you might soon be able to snag some high-end sweats at very reasonable prices.

According to Racked, the collection will (allegedly) be designed by Alexandre Plokhov, newly appointed head of menswear for Helmut Lang. Knowing both Uniqlo and Plokhov, one can assume that a collab between the two will be super minimalist and probably somewhat menswear-inspired. And awesome. It would definitely be awesome. Plokhov actually joined forces with the Japanese retailer for a capsule collection back in 2007, so we already know he's got the skills to design at a lower price point.

If the rumors are true (please, Fashion Gods, let the rumors be true) then I am fully prepared to denounce jeans, trousers, and leggings of all kind and convert to a full-time sweatpants gal. Hopefully, these wares will be endlessly wearable and as comfy as those decades old pajama pants you love to throw on as soon as you get home from work. Although, given that Plokhov was the designer behind perennially bizarre menswear label Cloak, there's always a chance they'll end up looking like an evil pirate's costume instead of actual sweats.

Either way, I'll take it!

UPDATE: This collection is officially happening and we have the photos to prove it! Racked released the images of Alexandre Plokohov x Uniqlo on Wednesday and I would not be more excited. The pieces range in price from $19.90 to $59.90 (affordability FTW) and will be released on September 22nd. Mark your calendars, folks.
