17 Short Celebrity Marriages That Barely Lasted a Month, Let Alone a Year
It's no secret that marriages tend to be short-lived in Hollywood, but some celebrity marriages really take the cake. Forget two or three years — some of these marriages barely lasted a month. So which celebrity couples called it quits after spending such a small amount of time as husband and wife? Check out this list of 17 couples who couldn't make it to the one year mark.
Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries
Kardashian married Humphries in a lavish, televised ceremony in 2011, after a year of dating. 72 days later the reality star wanted out of her marriage and asked for a divorce from her then-husband.
Britney Spears & Jason Alexander
“America’s Sweetheart” Spears married her childhood friend Alexander in Las Vegas. The marriage ended in an annulment only 55 hours after it happened.
Kid Rock & Pam Anderson
Rock and Anderson tied the knot on a yacht in July of 2006. (Anderson wore a white bikini, because she’s traditional like that.) The couple filed for divorce in November of the same year.
Sophia Bush & Chad Michael Murray
The One Tree Hill co-stars got married in 2005, and were separated only five months later. Bush doesn’t have kind words for her ex-husband, but that’s probably because he allegedly cheated on her with his House of Wax co-star Paris Hilton.
Lisa Marie Presley & Nicolas Cage
Presley and Cage wed in August of 2002. After three short months of marriage, Cage filed for divorce. Presley made a statement to the press that said that she and Cage should never have married in the first place. Unfortunately, it took getting married for them to figure that out.
Ali Landry & Mario Lopez
Lopez admits to having cheated on his then-wife Landry only days before their 2004 wedding, which led to Landry annulling their marriage only two weeks after it happened.
Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds
Murphy and Edmonds wed in a ceremony in Bora Bora in 2008 and planned to make the ceremony legal in the US when they returned from their trip. Two weeks later the couple had a change of heart and decided to call it quits instead.
Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Esposito
Cooper and Esposito wed in December of 2006… and filed for divorce in March of 2007. Esposito allegedly slammed Cooper in her new memoir, calling her “unnamed ex” a “master manipulator” with a “cold streak.”
Drew Barrymore & Tom Green
Barrymore and the Canadian actor Green got married in July of 2001, and filed for divorce in December of the same year. The divorce papers cited “irreconcilable differences” — you would have thought they would have worked those out before the marriage, but whatever.
Axl Rose & Erin Everly
Rose wrote the Guns N’ Roses song “Sweet Child O’ Mine” for his then-girlfriend Erin, the daughter of Don Everly. Everly and Rose wed in 1990 but annulled their marriage less than a year later.
Dennis Rodman & Carmen Electra
Rodman and Electra got married in Las Vegas in November of 1998 after an alleged night of heavy partying. The two were married until March of 1999 when they officially called it quits.
Elisabeth Moss & Fred Armisen
Moss and Armisen dated for a year before tying the knot, and split up only 10 months later. Moss has no kind words for her ex-husband, and told the New York Post that Armisen’s greatest impression was that of a “normal person.” Ouch. At least Armisen agreed with her — he told Howard Stern that he was a “terrible” boyfriend and husband.
The Dream & Christina Milian
The couple married in 2009 when Milian was pregnant with the couple’s daughter. They split up three months later after The Dream allegedly cheated on Milian.
Renee Zellweger & Kenny Chesney
The couple wed after only five months of dating, which was only one month longer than their marriage lasted. The actress and country singer wed in 2005 and Zellweger filed for annulment four months later.
Jennifer Lopez & Cris Judd
Lopez met music video director Judd when he was hired to direct the “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” video in 2001. The couple was married for nine months before they decided to split.
Tara Reid & Zack Kehayov
Reid announced via Twitter that she had married businessman Kehayov in 2011, but only two months later declared that their marriage was never legal and that they were splitting up. Uh, okay.
Katy Perry & Russell Brand
Perry and Brand had a whirlwind romance the culminated in a wedding in India in 2010. Though the couple didn’t go the distance — Brand texted his divorce plans to Perry 14 months after their wedding — they have had the longest marriage on this list — so congratulations, guys.
