7 Of The Best 'SNL' Duos Of All Time

by Sofia Barrett-Ibarria

Boy, how time flies. Saturday Night Live celebrated its 40th anniversary this September, and is kicking off what looks like an exciting season. SNL fans and avid watchers have a lot to look forward to this season, like Michael Che joining the Weekend Update and the addition of new cast member Pete Davidson. SNL's 40th is huge, but it's not the only anniversary the show is celebrating. This fall also marks the 10th anniversary of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's taking over the Weekend Update desk for Jimmy Fallon, which made them the segment's first women duo and possibly the funniest, most compatible Weekend Update pair ever. Poehler and Fey are great on their own, but the real-life friends are even better together. They not only lit up the Weekend Update, but were consistently hilarious in their other SNL sketches, too.

Throughout the course of its forty-year history, SNL has seen some hilarious comedy duos and real-life best-friend pairs like Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph that deserve recognition. In honor of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's epic SNL partnership, here is a list of the best, funniest SNL duos ever, in no particular order, from no particular season.

The Spartan Cheerleaders

Forever duplicated by YouTube teenagers everywhere, this sketch with Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri is easily one of the funniest and most memorable SNL partnerships of all time.

The Super Showcase Models

Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph are perfect.

The Ex-Porn Stars

Vanessa Bayer and Cecily Strong together are totally under-rated, and totally hilarious.

Garth and Kat

Fred Armisen and Kristen Wiig: please narrate my life in song.

Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton

Classic Poehler and Fey.

Two A-Holes

Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig are quite possibly the most infuriatingly annoying but perfect pair.

Betty and Jodi

Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph please marry me. Both of you.
