Up until today, Amazon Prime was likely your favorite way to get whatever you wanted in the quickest way possible (from toothpaste to leather booties — it's literally all there). But that's all about to change, come the holiday season. According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon will open it's first brick-and-mortar store on 34th street in New York City. Fun fact: this location, which is across from the Empire State Building and next to bustling shopping site Herald Square, is where Miracle on 34th Street was filmed. And a miracle, it just might be!
The store will act as a mini-warehouse, serving New Yorkers with same-day delivery, product returns and exchanges, and pickups of online orders. Now, it won't carry everything the online site does (because that would be impossible), but it'll have plenty of items for holiday shoppers to choose from, including their line of Kindle e-readers and other electronics. An analyst with the Enderle Group told USA Today that shoppers can expect more than just Amazon's products, saying, "They'll showcase Amazon, but also show off the breadth of Amazon's catalog."
Now, nothing is 100 percent for sure, so all of this is pure speculation for now because Amazon has yet to release an official statement about the NYC store. A spokesperson did not deny nor confirm, telling NPR ,"We have made no announcements about a location in Manhattan."
