That said, the actress who plays Olivia Pope is a total sartorial badass and I love her for that. She's also amazing at makeup. Kerry Washington rocked pastel blue eyeliner at the Elle 21st Annual Women in Hollywood Awards, and the look sure made the basic black cat eye seem snooze-worthy. Pastels — not just for Easter anymore?

The Scandal star matched her baby blue liner to her bold black and blue Calvin Klein dress, which she paired with pointed-toe Christian Louboutin sling-backs and a black and white clutch. She kept her beauty look ultra subtle save for the bright pop of color on her eyes — neutral shadow, major lashes, a glossy pink lips. A slicked back low ponytail and diamond studs completed the look.

Pastel makeup is bound to have a moment once the warm weather comes back around, as evidenced by the white eyeliner on the Nanette Lepore Spring 2015 runway, but Kerry Washington's take screams "Why wait?!" Just because fall is here in full force doesn't mean we need to rock dark shades only for the next six months. Once Polar Vortex Part Two hits, I imagine we'll be seriously craving some color.
