Her New Ad Campaign Will Cause Some Eye Rolls

by Sienna Fantozzi

Who do you turn to when it's time to promote the world's most expensive hotel and most exclusive airline? Well, the most pretentious actress, of course. Gwyneth Paltrow is promoting British Airways for the launch of their new A380 Airbus flight to Singapore, but her ad accomplishes anything but making me want to shell out thousands of dollars for the around-the-world flight.

The campaign was shot on top of Singapore's Marina Bay Sands resort, which is, fittingly, the most expensive hotel in the world. The GOOP founder, dressed in a turquoise Safiyaa gown and a pair of, what else, Jimmy Choos, posed in a BA airplane seat atop the hotel's roof pool, tilting her head back and laughing as if, of course, this is just a regular occurrence in the fabulous life of Gwyneth Paltrow. Clearly, being on set looks a lot more difficult than being a regular mom.

As for her desire to get involved with the airline, Paltrow said, "Singapore has always been a top destination on my wish list, so when British Airways approached me to help launch their impressive A380 to Singapore, I couldn't resist." So what stood out in Singapore? Gwynnie revealed that she loved the hotel's infinity pool, as well as the island's chili crabs. So she obviously took advantage of soaking up the Southeast Asian culture.

The ad might be slightly off-putting to some, but she is who she is — can't pretend to be somebody who makes $25,000 a year.
