Karl's Outfit Will Shock You

Karl, is that you? We've all become accustomed to seeing Karl Lagerfeld in his trademark, monochromatic black suit, and even though it might be monotonous, it's his signature style, and we always know he means business. But he's finally decided to keep things a bit more casual. Lagerfeld stepped out wearing jeans and a blue shirt in Los Angeles on Thursday, and he even topped off the look with a plaid scarf. BRB while I check out my window to see if pigs are flying.

Chanel's Creative Director is almost never spotted without his white collar and black suit, so this laid-back look was a stark departure for the designer — especially given his candid snobbism when it comes to casual fashion.

“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat,” Lagerfeld once said. “You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants.”

Don't tip-toe around anyone's feelings here, Karl. But really, what's going on? Is he just trying to shock us all, has his fashion elitism maybe gone a bit lax, or was he just particularly tired and needed a lazy day? If so, I can only imagine what the rest of the fashion world is thinking right now.
