You Can Be The Next Face of MAC Cosmetics

by Erin Mayer

What do you, Miley Cyrus, and Rihanna have in common? Well nothing...yet. But you do have the chance to follow in those pop stars footsteps as the face of MAC cosmetics. Yes, you! MAC is hosting a #MACnificentMe contest on social media to hunt for the face of the brand's Fall 2015 color campaign. Sounds like every beauty lover's dream come true!

From November 17 to December 12, hopefuls can log on to macnificentme.com and submit a 140 character "Mantra" explaining why they're awesome, a 100-word statement, and a headshot (yes, selfies are encouraged). Contestants are then expected to share their mantras on all the various social media platforms in order to garner attention. A total of six winners will receive a trip to New York City, including a makeover, a photo shoot, and the chance to star in the MACnificent Me campaign come October 2015.

So what exactly is the brand looking for? Creative Director James Gager says it's "about heart, it's about soul, and it's about being better than you thought you could be," whatever that means. More specifically, the judges will base their decisions on physical appearance and the creativity of the mantra and personal statement.

This could be you...

Using social media to cast ad campaigns and runway shows is not an entirely new trend, but it's likely to become more and more pervasive since it's such an effective way to encourage brand engagement. Some recent examples of brands and designers who've used social media to scout models include Cara Delevingne for DKNY, Marc Jacobs, and ASOS. Who even needs modeling agencies anymore?
