'Fast & Furious' Will Outlive Us All

by Caroline Pate

There are very few movie series we need six of, and a movie about fast cars is not one of them. But nonetheless, you can bet your unborn child on there being a Fast & Furious 7. In fact, there's news on that subject: Universal announced today that Djimon Hounsou will join the cast of the upcoming film along with Fast & Furious vets Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese, Kurt Russell and Jason Statham.

As sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, there will be another Fast & Furious movie. Is it a great film series? Far from it. Is it even a movie exemplary of the action genre? Not in the slightest. Did we even need a Fast & Furious 6?

Fast & Furious 7 is set to be released on July 11, but it won't stop there. The Fast & Furious franchise will outlive us all, outlive Vin Diesel, even outlive the concept of cars as we know it. In the future, our great-great-great grandchildren will be live-streaming Fast & Furious 562 to their brains, while the genetic spawn of Vin Diesel and Jason Statham (his name is Badd Ryde) jumps from hover Eclipse to hover Eclipse on the mean streets of space.

And really, isn't this the America that we all dream of?
