This Lingerie Campaign's All About Body Confidence

by Tess Yocom

Serena Williams has been killing it on the court. Last month, the tennis star finished as the top-ranked player in the world. Now, she’s serving up a round of body confidence. Serena Williams’ looked stunning in her lingerie campaign for Australian brand Berlei. Williams showed off her athletic body in a white bra, black panties, and blazer.

Williams also opens up about her body confidence and how she deals with pressure from society in an interview with The Daily Telegraph:

“In our society we’re often led to believe we have to look a certain way, but I have learned to be proud of my curves and to embrace them. It’s important to love who you are and realize that you’re beautiful, no matter what society says and the pressure they put on you to look a certain way."

What else is great about this ad? There’s finally a lingerie campaign that’s not shoving sex appeal in our faces. Us women are pretty used to our undergarments, and, let’s be real here: wearing a bra is NOT fun. No matter how much marketers try to make them seem girly and sexy, we mainly rely on our bras for functional support. So, why aren’t these ads showing our real personalities? FINALLY, we get to see a bra ad that portrays women as strong and independent instead of seductive. And that's pretty dang cool.
