8 Ways T Swift Is Just Like B Spears

by Caitlyn Callegari

If you grew up in the '90s, you acknowledged and worshiped one god who went by the name of Britney Jean Spears. Or Brit Brit, you know, to you and her closest friends (not that you weren't one of them, obvs). She was literally everywhere and seemingly a part of everything — school stationary, Oprah interviews, world tours, Barbie dolls. Her music was catchy and relatable and sure, she didn't have a killer voice like Christina Aguilera but damn, could she move. She was the music industry's "it" girl, and she reigned supreme for quite some time until eventually, another gal stepped in and took the reigns. Guys, Taylor Swift is the new Britney Spears, duh.

Now, at first glance you may not think Swift and Spears are as akin as they actually are. T Swift is the girl next door, she writes her own music, and her dancing is constantly ridiculed. B Spears, on the other hand, was somewhat of a sex symbol, a phenomenal dancer, and more of a performer than a music artist, per say. But despite those few innate differences, the two have traveled down an eerily similar, successful path to stardom. So much so, that I've taken the liberty of pointing it out to you all. For historical purposes.

BOTH LADIES STARTED OUT AS COUNTRY GIRLS

Britney:

Yes, that is Britney Bitch singing The Judds, bitch.

Taylor:

Yes, that's Taylor singing a Tim McGraw song, girl.

THEY BOTH DATED THE "IT" GUY

Taylor and Harry:

Still not convinced it's the end for either couple, TBH.

THEY'VE BOTH BEEN CALLED OUT BY AN EX-LOVER IN A PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE SONG

JT called out Britney:

John Mayer called out Taylor:

OK, maybe JT's was just actually aggressive.

BOTH HAD RECORDS THAT SOLD OVER 1 MILLION COPIES IN THE FIRST WEEK

I suppose that's not too shabby, huh?

THEY'RE BOTH SAGITTARIUSES

December babies! Britney was born on Dec. 2, 1981 and Taylor was born on Dec. 13, 1989.

THEY'VE BOTH DABBLED IN FILM

Britney:

Tay Tay:

Though I wouldn't just call Crossroads a film, it was a cinematic masterpiece.

BOTH HAVE THEIR OWN PERFUME LINE

Britney:

Taylor:

So, that means they both have to smell good, right?

AND, THEY'RE BOTH MURDERERS... FICTIONALLY, OF COURSE
