Those Mean Batman Comments Hurt His Feelings

by Lindsay Mannering

Hey, remember all those mean things you tweeted when you heard the news that Ben Affleck would be Batman? Yeah, about those. Affleck went on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Monday night and opened up about the less than positive response to his upcoming role in the Man of Steel sequel, and guys? You should be ashamed of yourselves. You hurt Ben's feelings and it's so not cool.

Here's the deal: The studio knew that they and Affleck would get some flack for the casting job and they tried their best to nip the negativity in the bud. In fact, they went so far as to send Affleck the dissenting reactions other legendary actors had received when they, too, were cast as an iconic comic book character, but it didn't help.

Affleck thought he could handle the response because he's "tough", as he puts it, but whoa. WHOA. You guys were so super mean that you forced him to exit the Internet for a significant period of time. The first Internet comment Affleck encountered after the news broke was a simple "NoooOooOoOOoOoOooo," and that alone was enough to make him step away from the computer.

Just think, had he gone one step further and actually searched "Batfleck" on Twitter ... oh, god. His skin might have melted off.

But don't feel too, too bad: he's over it. Mostly.
