The holidays may be all about the red, green, and glittered, but not everyone wants to take a colorful approach for this time of year. Cameron Diaz attended the Annie premiere, and despite all the 'tis the season hype, she wore all dark colors.

Diaz wore a charcoal gray dress for her new movie's New York City premiere on Sunday at the Zigfeld Theatre, and she gave the A-line feminine piece some serious edge. The dress itself was a sleek, smoky charcoal with a hint of shimmer and some pretty major frontal pockets. The 42-year-old paired her frock with opaque black tights and black leather booties, keeping the overall look relaxed and very model-off-duty. As per usual, Diaz kept her blonde hair undone, in an easy up-do with her bangs loosely curled and in a deep side part. Though she kept her jewelry minimal, Cam did dress up the look with a deep, scarlet lip, so she wasn't totally out of touch with the holiday season.

Personally, I love her dark and stormy approach to the red carpet, and for anyone who wants a break from the typical holly jolly Christmas party approach — take some style cues from Cameron.
