Can you feel the love...right now? Well, you should, especially because Elton John and David Furnish are getting married this weekend in England. Now that gay marriage is legal in Britain (finally!) John, 67, and Furnish, 52, have decided to make their love official. These two have been together for 21 years, which is a very long time for any couple in Hollywood. Since 2005, John and Furnish have been in a civil partnership, but now that same-sex marriage is recognized in England, they are ready to take their relationship to the next level. Their love is going to become that much more special.
In March 2014, John opened up about their upcoming nuptials to Today show host Matt Lauer saying,
We'll do it very quietly. But we will do it and it will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children [there]. For this legislation to come through is joyous and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well, we have a civil partnership, we're not going to bother to get married'. We will get married.
John's rep confirmed to Us Weekly that they are indeed getting married this weekend, and it does appear that they'll keep the affair somewhat low-key. Furnish said previously, "I think what we'll do is go to a register office in England...and take the boys with us, and a couple of witnesses."
When they do tie the knot, it surely will be a special day for John, Furnish, and their sons, Zachary and Elijah.
