Watch the Lullaby Video That's Going Viral

by Sara Levine

Even if you don’t have children of your own, I’m sure it’s not hard to imagine just how difficult it can be to get a baby to go to sleep. But if you’re like Sumter, South Carolina woman Kimberly Henderson — the mom who sang a Whitney Houston lullaby to her one-year-old on camera — you might not have such a hard time in that department. Henderson covered Sam Smith’s version of Whitney’s “How Do I Know” and as of a few minutes ago, the Youtube video she uploaded has been viewed over 600,000 times, and it’s reached over 20 million people on Facebook. Meanwhile, my dad singing Harry Nilsson’s “Blanket for a Sail” has garnered exactly zero national attention. Sorry, Dad.

It shouldn’t come as much of a shocker to you that Henderson has a killer voice — after all, not everyone can keep up with Whitney (or Sam, for that matter). So go somewhere private and watch the video. I say “go somewhere private” because if you’re at work, your coworkers are going to wonder why you’re “awwww”-ing at your computer screen and using up all the company tissues. The combination of Kimberly’s amazing voice and adorable baby is going to hit you right in the feels. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Since I know you’re thinking it already, Kimberly has already tried out for American Idol and The Voice, as recently as this past summer. While the judges liked her voice, they “didn’t think it was her time yet."

Obviously, millions of people disagree. But on the bright side she has received a ton of offers as a result of the video, and she tells WLTX she's sitting down with a lawyer to go over her options. Yes, that includes recording this song professionally! It’s safe to say this won’t be the last you hear this crazy talented mom, so keep your eyes and ears open.
