First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes... the reality TV show? Well, that seems to be the way things go in Hollywood these days. Donnie Wahlberg — brother of Mark, Blue Bloods actor, and former '90s boy-bander in the New Kids on the Block — wed hostess with the mostest Jenny McCarthy — former host of MTV's Singled Out and ABC's The View — back in August. They've appeared together on A&E's Wahlberg family-centric series Wahlburgers and now the McCarthy-Wahlberg union will take center stage on their own reality show on the network, Donnie Loves Jenny , premiering Wednesday night. The docuseries opens with Wahlberg and McCarthy's wedding, which was a gorgeous, rose-filled summer affair.
The couple tied the knot on Aug. 31 at Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Ill., right outside Chicago, which is McCarthy's hometown. They wed in front of lots of beautiful red roses and 90 guests, including McCarthy's son Evan (from her first marriage to actor John Mallory Asher), who walked his momma down the aisle. The couple is so in love that McCarthy tried to kiss Wahlberg before their 20-minute ceremony. "Donnie said, 'You can't kiss me yet!'" McCarthy told Us Weekly, which published exclusive photos and details from the McCarthy-Walhberg nuptials after the lovely event.
Here are more tidbits to know about the wedding before tuning in to Donnie Loves Jenny.
The Venue
At the elegant Hotel Baker, the altar was covered in Floral by Avant Gardenia red roses and white candles, along with rose petals lining the aisle. The richness of the red roses contrasted nicely with the white chairs and the white carpet that covered the aisle, at least in my opinion, after seeing photos of the event on the hotel's Facebook page.
Hotel Baker, built in 1928, has a rich history itself in Illinois. The hotel was the vision of Edward Baker, who inherited $20 million from his oil heiress sister Dellora. He decided to use $1 million of that money to commission this small, but elegant resort hotel in downtown St. Charles.
The Wedding Party
Wahlberg helped Evan get dressed to the nines in order to walk his mom down the aisle. "He said to me, 'I have the most important job at the wedding,'" McCarthy told Us Weekly. "He was perfect."
And Wahlberg certainly hasn't forgotten his roots. New Kids on the Block bandmates Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood, and Jonathan Knight were present during the event as groomsmen. Brother Mark couldn't make it, but posted a congratulations video to the couple.
The Dress (and Tux)
McCarthy's wore a lovely draped custom corseted Di Santo wedding gown, while Wahlberg donned a black Reiss tuxedo.
McCarthy just stuck with the one dress. She joked that her wedding to Wahlberg wouldn't be like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's lavish nuptials in Italy. "We're not getting married in Istanbul with eight million guests," Wahlberg told Extra. "I won't have three dresses."
