Idris Elba Developing 'Poe Must Die' as a Trilogy

by Anna Klassen

In case you still needed your daily intake of awesome, here it is: Idris Elba is creating a Poe Must Die trilogy. The pending historical thrillers are based on the novel published in 1978. Set in New York City in the 1840s, the narrative revolves around Edgar Allen Poe as he fights off demonic forces and inner personal demons. But that's not all: While he's wrestling his own turmoil, he'll be pursuing a sorcerer who murdered a friend's wife. And the sorcerer in question is seeking something called the "Throne of Solomon," a powerful vessel that will grant him immortality and control over the devil, known in most old-timey fare as simply, Lucifer. Confused, yet? We are too, but needless to say this plot sounds equal parts ridiculous and amazing.

While he may not be playing the latest MI7 as the next Mr. Bond, Elba certainly has enough on his plate. Starring in the upcoming The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and voicing Shere Khan in The Jungle Book, the handsome face found time to pursue his personal passion with Poe Must Die though his own production company, Green Door Production Co. While it may be some time before we see the sinister story come to life, we know with Elba at the helm, our reluctant waiting will be well worth the interim.
