Sometimes, basic isn't the equivalent of boring or bland. After all, where would any fashionista be without her basic skinny jeans, basic black blazer, or basic patent leather pumps? The Critics' Choice Awards red carpet provided little in the way of revolutionary design, but the simple, streamlined, and timeless designs were basics in the most positive sense of the word.
