Emma Watson Just Landed The Most Perfect Role Ever

by Alyse Whitney

Hermione Granger is perfect in every way, but Emma Watson playing Belle in Beauty and the Beast may be the best casting that has ever happened. The actress announced that she will be playing the Disney princess in the live-action adaptation of the iconic animated film, revealing her excitement in a sweet Facebook post. "My six year old self is on the ceiling — heart bursting," she wrote, adding, "It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There.'"

Watson is already getting started on the film by taking some singing lessons, and that made me realize that she hasn't had any big musical roles onscreen. She showed off her pipes in Noah alongside Russell Crowe, albeit only for a short time. "I've never really thought to sing in a movie before, except that I’m crying so much that you don’t really get to hear much of the song," she told MTV, calling the whole experience "surreal." You can also hear her soft background vocals on Ben Hammersley's song "Pantomime" below to tide you over until she makes her ballgown-wearing debut in Beauty and the Beast. Now we have just to wait until we find out who her Beast will be. Oh, and another fun connection? Stephen Chbosky, who wrote The Perks of Being a Wallflower, penned the script, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon will direct.
