How To Celebrate Galentine's Day Like Amy Poehler

by Chrissa Hardy

You guys, the most important day of the year is here. Galentine's Day, February 13, is the crucial celebratory event created by Leslie Knope that the real, non-fictional world desperately needed. It's a day where ladies celebrate ladies, ideally surrounded by whipped cream-covered breakfast food.

The reason this holiday was instantly embraced by women everywhere with unwavering enthusiasm is because of the woman behind it all, Leslie Knope. She's the ultimate feminist hero who always has the best intentions, and she gives the best gifts in the world. She puts her entire beating aorta into each present she gives her gals. Which is ideally what you'd want out of the future first female President of the United States. OK, fine. I know that won't actually become a reality because Leslie Knope is not a real person, but wouldn't we all be so much better off if she was? Luckily, we can take solace in knowing that Amy Poehler is real, and every bit as wonderful as the role she plays.

Have you started planning your Galentine's Day festivities? Because now's the time to do it. Just in case you need a boost of enthusiasm to get geared up for a frank discussion on the best TV show ever (Friday Night Lights) and writing 5,000-word essays on why you love each one of your BFFs, here are some Amy Poehler quotes to get you in the correct headspace.
