A Big Step In The Right Direction For Lilo

by Jaclyn Anglis

Looks like Lindsay Lohan won't be wearing orange again anytime soon. Yes, the actress has narrowly avoided serving more jail time, according to reports. Lindsay Lohan has reportedly completed her community service hours to satisfy the probation requirement from her reckless driving case in 2012.

According to TMZ, Lohan will get a letter of completion from her London community service center Wednesday that she has finished the 240 hours of community service. But she reportedly waited until the last minute to complete the hours of service, putting in extra time in the week before. The actress originally was supposed to complete the hours by Nov. 6, but at that point, she had only finished 102 hours. Luckily for her, the judge extended her time to Jan. 28. And also, since she is in London, which is eight hours ahead of Los Angeles, she technically had some extra time to complete them.

This seems like a positive step in the right direction for the troubled star, but at the same time it might not be worth singing her praises just yet. After all, she did wait until the last minute to complete her service, which shows that it was probably not the highest thing on her list of priorities. Sadly, this is unsurprising considering Lohan's history of legal woes.

Lohan holds multiple DUIs, the first of which she was arrested for back in 2007. Since then, she has been involved in several car accidents, among other legal issues that took a long time to be resolved. On Nov. 6, Lohan finally got her probation dropped for her necklace theft case that began in 2011. But since then, she has still been on probation for this other case — reckless driving and also lying to police in 2012. And of course, it remains to be seen if she will be approved by the court for finishing her hours in this case, and if she will truly be off probation after that. We will have to stay tuned.

And even if she is, it's worth questioning why she took the time to star in a Super Bowl ad for car insurance, of all things, share a selfie showing off a thong, and party in Paris just days before her court date while all but putting community service on the back burner in the meantime. Yes, it is progress that she finished, but it looks like she still needs to work on getting her priorities in order if she wants to make the "movie star comeback" she reportedly wants. Let's hope that she does that work, too!
