Your 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 Spoiler Round-Up

by Nicole Pomarico

It's officially been forever since the last time there was a new episode of Grey's Anatomy. I feel like a totally different person since Grey's was last on — Christmas has happened, and now it's 2015. Almost Valentine's Day, in fact. Fortunately, there's good news: Not only does Grey's Anatomy Season 11 return on Thursday, but there are so many episodes left that there's no chance Shonda Rhimes could possibly saddle us with another agonizingly long break. However there's bad news, too: Everything sucks for just about every character. Jackson and April are faced with a deadly diagnosis for their baby, Meredith and Derek are fighting, and there's pretty much no chance for the survival of Callie and Arizona's marriage. Wait, why do I watch this masochistic show again? Oh yeah, that's right — because according to spoilers for this season, Grey's Anatomy is giving us a lot to look forward to.

And if the word "spoilers" didn't tip you off yet and you don't want to read any, you should probably stop here. If you are interested? Get ready to be hit with a ton of reasons why you should be completely psyched that Grey's is back this week.

We'll Get A Break From Derek

Partly because he and Meredith are obviously on the outs, and partly because he actually is going to DC, and the Grey's cameras aren't following him there. Shonda Rhimes warned in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that we "will not see Derek for awhile." This opens up a pretty cool storyline for Mer, too, because now she's forced to figure out who she is, standing alone without any of her people. Here's what else Rhimes had to say about what's ahead for the couple.

"I love the echoes of her mother that are in there and what that means for her. I love the idea that this could possibly mean that for the first time in her life at the hospital, she has neither Cristina [Sandra Oh] or Derek, and therefore is essentially alone and how she’s going to cope with that. It’s going to be very interesting for her."

There's Hope For Callie & Arizona

I didn't want to believe this, because my hopes are going to be up if it's not true. But according to Rhimes' EW interview, their relationship may not actually be over.

"I am still a staunch believer that they can figure it out. I’m not saying they’re going to, but I am one of their fans as a couple because I love their story together. I love who they are together. I want them to work out their crap and get it together."

Owen Might Be Having A Baby...

Remember how precious Owen was with the little boy, Ethan, who lost both of his parents last season? He'd clearly be an awesome dad, and I love the fact that according to Rhimes' interview with TVLine, he might get the opportunity to be one.

"I don’t know why that is still not a possibility. I don’t know why you think that’s not a possibility,” the showrunner said when questioned about the still open storyline. “Yeah, we’ve thought of every possibility for Owen and how he can have a baby — believe me.”

And A Romance

According to TVLine's Michael Ausiello, we may see Owen strike up a relationship with Derek's sister, Amelia. If this is happening, I seriously cannot wait to see how the rest of Season 11 unfolds.
