The 8 Best Things About Coachella

Coachella: it's the music and arts festival you've always wanted to go to but never had the $375 to spend on. Located in beautiful Indio, California, celebrities and commoners alike know that Coachella is the festival to go to, so if you were lucky enough to score passes for this year, you’re in for a treat. After all, this is the music festival so famed for ridiculousness that it spawned this spoof poster back in 2013.

There’s certainly a lot to look forward to for Coachella 2015, but here are nine of the things we’re most excited about. See you in the front row!

1. Celebrity sightings

I mean, who doesn’t go to this thing? From Vanessa Hudgens to Jarod Leto, celebrities come out in droves to see and be seen. And if this year delivers anything half as good as Leonardo DiCaprio dancing like your dad, we’ll be satisfied.

2. Festival fashion

Seriously, nothing is off-limits for this thing. We’re talking feathers. Mesh. Braids. Lace. Vests. Shorts. Bikinis. When it comes to Coachella, you can throw on any random combination of things from your closet and you’ll likely be photographed for a fashion blog. This is your chance to wear your fringed vest. Be a mermaid (with a floral headband, naturally). You are that mermaid for one weekend only. Go for it.

3. The experience

Trust us. When you’re spending three days at a festival like Coachella, you will have a story. Whether it’s about the cool people you met waiting in line for the bathroom or seeing a man wearing nothing but a speedo, you’ll have some talking points for you next party.

4. Being surprised - in the best possible way

One of the coolest things about this festival is that there is no shortage of surprise performers. Beyoncé joined her sister Solange on stage last year. Gwen made an appearance for a song with Pharrell. Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips brought his performance into the crowd in the most whimsical way possible. You never know who you’re going to see when you step on the Coachella grounds, and that’s the best part.

5. The Instagram potential

Coachella is an Instagramer’s paradise. Just think of the possibilities – the lights, the fashion, the palm trees. It's like a built-in filter. Use that beautiful California backdrop to fill up your friends’ feeds with some awesome photos.

6. Having a built-in excuse not to shower for three days

It’s a festival. It’s expected to be a little gross. Even if you do shower, it probably won’t make a difference by about 11:00 AM, so go ahead and bathe with moist towelettes throughout the day instead. We won’t judge.

7. Seeing some fantastic performances

Yeah, yeah, so we’ve talked about the celebrities, the fashion and the background, but at its core, Coachella is a music festival. This April you’ll have the chance to see some truly talented performers, including FKA Twigs, Stromae, Alabama Shakes and Drake. Check out the full lineup and choose wisely.

8. Going to In-n-Out Burger after

Hey, you’ll be in California, after all. Go ahead and get yourself some animal-style fries on the way back to your hotel. You deserve them all because you've worked for it.
