Will Ferrell's Gone Ron Burgundy a Bit Soon

by Alanna Bennett

Ron Burgundy is back sooner than expected, and it's in the form of good old-fashioned American consumerism. Will Ferrell has suited up as his Anchorman character in these new ads for Dodge Durango, and it really just kind of feels right when you think about what kind of endorsement deals Ron Burgundy's fictional self would hypothetically take.

Really, the best thing about these ads is picturing Will Ferrell wandering around the set in full Ron Burgundy mode all day. As the narration of the original Anchorman film noted, “He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo.”

Though less flashily executed, these ads have a similar feel to those highly praised Old Spice commercials from a few years back. There's even a horse! Also a cocky man very secure in his conviction that you should buy his product in order to be cool.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues comes out at Christmas-time this year. In the meantime, its main character would like you to buy a very large car. He assumes you will not immediately regret this decision. As the ad promises, "GUM FOR DAYS!"

You can practically smell his leather-bound books and mahogany-smelling apartment from here.
