Can Theroux Escape Being Mr. Jennifer Aniston?

by Kate Ward

Justin Theroux starred in Six Feet Under. Parks and Recreation. Wanderlust. As the evil DJ in Zoolander. Still, you probably know him better as Mr. Jennifer Aniston.

The actor has certainly enjoyed a surge in fame in recent years, but for all the wrong reasons. Despite his lengthy resume as a performer and director (he's helming this year's Swear to God, starring Steve Carell and Will Ferrell), Theroux managed to attract media attention only after dating, and subsequently getting engaged to, Wanderlust co-star Jennifer Aniston.

But now, it seems the tabloid attention has paid off. The actor has scored a role as the lead in The Leftovers , the HBO drama pilot written by Lost's Damon Lindelof. By virtue of the series being on the same network as the beloved Girls, Game of Thrones, and other critically and commercially loved hits, the pilot's future is promising, even if it's post-Rapture setting proves there isn't a Bible passage Lindelof won't reference.

And Theroux needs a promising future. Otherwise, we'll continue to have no choice but to pay attention to his role as husband over his role as a real-life, actual actor with a career outside of appearing in headlines. Especially those that also feature Aniston. Like this one.
