Kanye Will Lead The Comfort Revolution

by Catie Keck

Mysterious, mysterious. Kanye attended Dior at Paris Fashion Week, accompanied by Lorde instead of Kim, and wearing what you’ll remember as the skinny jeans and borrowed-from-the-boys oversize sweatshirt combo that you shamelessly sported throughout most of high school. With winter boots. Forever swimming against the tide, that Kanye West.

Lorde looked amazing, obviously, wearing a black sequined long-sleeve top (note the mock turtleneck) beneath a gorgeous blue dress and sleek pointed-toe boots with contrast stitching. She sat front row with actress and PFW veteran Hailee Steinfeld, who also looked great. Their apparent camaraderie makes sense because Steinfeld subscribes to the cult of Taylor Swift, who, by default, is friends with everyone. Taylor Swift is the lowest common denominator of young upwardly mobile starlets.

But the real unsung hero of this event was West, who’s systematically implementing a shift toward fashionable loungewear, made possible in part by styling his wife and human Barbie Kim Kardashian (scratch that, all of the Jenner offspring). Sweatshirts are in vogue right now, but this one isn't exactly "high fashion." Can we shake off our dusty alma mater hoodies and pair them with a fitted skinny?

Kanye is beckoning in a new era: one of comfort, minimalism, and breathable cotton.
